Accreditation Rule and Membership Process

In 2020, the NATSAP Board of Directors approved a measure requiring members to hold accreditation from an approved governing body. The change in standing reflects an initiative seeking transparency and accountability. Members hold themselves to the highest standards in the field, ensuring evidence-based research and patient-centered care remain paramount to successful treatments and outcomes.

What are the benefits of all NATSAP programs being accredited?

  • Accreditation recognizes a special status and strength of quality. Members schools and programs that meet this standard promote safety and effectiveness in design and education. As the Association engages with decision-makers, its members have the credibility to promote and defend the community.
  • Accreditation demonstrates to the mental and behavioral health community, the education sector, policy leaders, the media, patients, students, families, and the public that programs and schools hold themselves to a higher measure of excellence.
  • Accreditation means schools and programs have the integrity and principled professionalism required to maintain exceptional progress and trust.

Accredited therapeutic schools and programs are enjoying renewed approval. Research and public support indicate mental health is a national emergency, and that formal treatment is necessary. This kind of therapy comes in many forms, with the student and the patient at the epicenter of care. As the field grows, NATSAP members will have a seat at the table on administrative and regulatory oversight. With accreditation, members are invited to participate, and are respected for the quality of services and ability to deliver successful outcomes with demonstrably innovative techniques.

NATSAP’s motto, "Guiding the Way," embodies the principles of truth, transparency, and trust. For 25 years the Association has been a leading voice in mental and behavioral health and education. Members are part of a larger community that continues to evolve, meeting the demands of the field with licensed medical directors, psychologists, social workers, therapists, administrators, faculty, and staff. The Association welcomes programs and schools that recognize the demand for similar excellence.

NATSAP is an organization of programs volunteering to hold themselves to a higher standard. The Association believes in evidence-based outcomes and patient-centered care. NATSAP invites therapeutic schools and programs to join the Association on this journey. Become a member that is building a community defined by quality and excellence.

Be a part of an association that truly guides the way!

Sincerely,
The NATSAP Board
