To get the most out of your membership, NATSAP encourages all new members to participate in one of our many committees. Our committees act as the planning bodies that guide NATSAP in policy and philosophy. Participating on a committee allows members to contribute ideas on how to better improve the association. Innovative ideas from committee members have served as a guiding light for NATSAP as we continually improve upon our core beliefs. We can only benefit further from ideas that a new member brings. Please review the committee below for more information or contact the email associated with each committee.
Best Practices Committee
The Best Practices Committee combines the efforts of the former Academic, Best Practices, and Research Committees. It reviews NATSAP’s Best Practice Guidelines to ensure relevance, oversees the collection of outcomes research data, and provides a forum for academic directors and teachers to discuss issues and share best practices. The committee also handles written complaints about programs, conducts inquiries, writes reports, and makes recommendations to the NATSAP Board regarding specific complaints.

Conference Committee
The Conference Committee is responsible for selecting sessions and shaping the program for both the Annual and Regional Conferences. The committee ensures that these conferences align with NATSAP’s goals by providing platforms for professional learning, networking, and recognizing outstanding contributions by program staff. Members of the committee meet quarterly to exchange ideas and improve the overall conference experience.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee combines the efforts of the former Membership and Member Services Committees. It serves as the first layer of approval for NATSAP membership, vetting potential members and researching prospective candidates to ensure they meet NATSAP’s standards. The committee also works with staff to assess members’ needs, researches potential service sources, and makes recommendations to the Board. Responsibilities include member surveys, webinars, and group discounts.

Public Affairs Committee
The combined PR & GR Committee, now known as the Public Affairs Committee, focuses on enhancing member engagement, expanding relationships with key organizations, and increasing NATSAP's presence in the mental health space. The committee leverages organizational networks to create connections, monitors and engages with news/media from peers online, organizes an annual Advocacy Day, and engages in congressional outreach. The committee also gathers member feedback, identifies collaboration opportunities, and develops a robust contact list, all while ensuring effective communication and education about NATSAP's high standards and benefits. Through these efforts, the committee advocates for NATSAP's interests and supports initiatives beneficial to members.
